DreamWorks' Forgotten Island has a sweet friendship at its centre, but a butterfly knife at school, suggestive close-ups, demon characters and a nightmare villain make it a skip for young kids. My Mom and I gave it 1 out of 5.

A live-action Looney Tunes movie that actually feels like Looney Tunes. My seven-year-old laughed the whole way through, my husband got bored, and the coyote getting up forty times turned into a Proverbs 24 conversation on the way home. Mild language and a few grown-up jokes are the only things to weigh.

A genuinely sweet dinosaur-island adventure with a stronger message than it needed — that failing doesn't disqualify you. It's Peter on the beach and the prodigal son's father on the road, told with puppies. Clean, kind, and the volcano is the only thing to weigh.

An eighties neighborhood dropped into the Mesozoic era, with a marriage on the edge of divorce at the center of it. The marriage message is genuinely good. But the gore is far heavier than Jurassic Park and a few dismissals of God land like they were inserted, and between them I can't recommend the film.
